Our Mission
It is the goal of Innocent Smith’s Musical Circus to react to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in these three ways:
- Rehearsing the Gospel presented through the Church via Scripture (Theology)
- To reach out to and care for those marginalized in society (Social Justice)
- To develop and nurture a community of God’s new creation (Discipleship)
What we mean by these things…
The Gospel is the account of God’s involvement in human history through the person of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the Church as presented in the Bible and the doctrines of the Church (through credal statements like the Nicene Creed for instance). The Church is the Body of Christian believers worldwide (e.g. Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant). The Scripture is the Bible, the written Word of God communicated through the Jewish and Christian traditions. To reach out to and care for those marginalized in society (i.e. the disabled, the impoverished, etc.) is to practice the invitation/inclusion that Jesus demonstrated throughout his ministry (feeding, healing, sharing the Gospel, etc.). It is our goal to welcome and to serve those in need in any way that we can. In inviting all people to Christ’s call of the Gospel, we hope to develop and nurture a community of God’s new creation as ushered in through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This involves authentically loving our fellow humans as Christ has demonstrated his love and through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. It is our goal to partner with local churches to connect our new friends with in order to continue their relationships with the Body of Christ, the Church, once we have shared our mission with a particular geographical region.
